Dr. Ijeoma Asota is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced training in refractive surgeries and vision correction. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Driven by her passion for research, she completed a post-doctorate cornea research fellowship at Emory University Department of Ophthalmology, where her groundbreaking work on corneal crosslinking contributed to FDA approval for keratoconus treatment.
Dr. Asota completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, followed by a fellowship at the prestigious Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California-Irvine, specializing in corneal and anterior segment diseases, advanced cataract techniques, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Asota’s expertise includes LASIK, PRK, Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICLs), laser cataract surgery, premium refractive lens implants (such as Light-Adjustable Lenses, toric, multifocal, and extended-range IOLs), corneal transplantation, and corneal crosslinking. Recognized for her academic achievements, leadership, and patient care, she has published extensively in prominent medical journals and contributed to resident training, conference presentations, and international medical outreach.
Dr. Asota enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Her hobbies include photography, crocheting, hiking, and traveling.
